And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.
I Samuel 18:4
David had just killed Goliath and was in a conversation with Saul the king.
Having heard the conversation between David and his father, Jonathan connected to David. Possibly, he could see destiny in David, the young shepherd boy.
Jonathan entered into a covenant with David and sealed it by giving David his robe, armor, sword, bow and belt.
Whatever made Jonathan the heir apparent, he gave to David. He gave up the robe he wore as a prince and the armor with which he used to fight to defend the kingship. All were released to David.
Jonathan in effect was saying “you deserve to take the kingship ahead of me.”
When God’s favour is on you, room is made for you in the most unlikely places.
Instead of Jonathan seeing a competitor in David, he saw an ally. Instead of seeing an enemy, he saw a brother.
Favour got David connected to the prince. You’ll also be favoured and connected to people of authority and favour. Shalom.
Prayer :Pray that God’s favour will fall on you everywhere you go.
